What music do you listen to when training?

October 28, 2009

As I was running through my favorite forum site. I stumbled upon a thread that says Workout Songs for Motivation: Your Favorite. I just coulnd’t help but take a peek at what others are listening to.

Hip-hop. I am a big fan of the culture. I used to look like a stick-up-kid even. But that’s history. I still listen to rap music and the like. Most specially when working-out. Listening to ‘Pac, Biggie, Jay-z, Talib Kweli, The Roots and many other artists. The thumping bass. The ear piercing snares. Not to mention the auto-tune hype. And the lyrical finesse and creativity. Over-all, it’s a good listen when you’re looking to psyche yourself up.

Other Genres. Having had the chance to train with others, I noticed that they have preferences when it comes to traning music. Others like myself listen to rap/hip-hop, some listen to trance, others house-music, while some prefer the soothing sounds of defeaning quiteness.

Progression: Building Strength

October 26, 2009

After roughly a month’s rest, I went backto training. Excited than ever, I took my pre-workout meal and headed straight to the gym.

I will be posting my work-out logs, programs, diet and such for others to critique.I would love to hear your thoughts about what I do in the gym.

Work-out Dilemma. After the dilemma I encountered from the previous work-out, I made some changes on program. The changes applied have been proven to be very beneficial. Initially the problem I encountered was that I have been overtraining. The program just took much time to finish.

Progression: Overtraining Problem

October 22, 2009

Having gone through last week’s troubles, being able to work-out somehow relieves me of life’s stresses.

On my previous work-out log, the figures that came out weren’t the ones I was expecting. This time however, I made sure that I beat my previous. It may not seem much, but it is still progress.

Progress? I encountered one BIG problem though. I noticed that for the past two training sessions, I have been over-training. Novices tend to fall for this trap very often, and I for one have been victimized.

Progression: Re-Start

October 20, 2009

After roughly a month’s rest, I went backto training. Excited than ever, I took my pre-workout meal and headed straight to the gym.

To my surprise, I hadn’t been able to lift the weights I had been training with since I left. My body was at a total shock. Not that I didn’t like it, but I still found that I hadn’t fully recovered yet. After every greuling set, I was coughing. And louder as I progressed with my program. Nevertheless, I still persisted and pushed through with it.

Training Program. There are a wide variety of training programs out there that promise sunshines and rainbows. Not to say that they do not work or what not, but thing is it doesn’t synchronize with one’s goals. You can try to pick a training program on-line, but is it really inclined with what your goals are? Worst, do you even have a goal?

Bodybuilding 101: Basic Terminologies

October 17, 2009

Back to Basics. Okay, now before I get everybody confused, I would like to dumb-down some of the most common terminologies gym rats use. It’s not to say that it’s hard to understand nor that they have a very low comprehension. Rather, provide information to people specially the ones new to bodybuilding.

Some others think that bodybuilding is a sport that’s pure brute and no brains involve. Some think that you just lift weights and then get big. They want results, and they want it fast. And all too often, these people are the ones that quit after a couple of weeks. One reason, they do not know what they are doing.
